My grandfather, my uncles, and even my brother and son-in-law. all served or are
serving in the military, so I was raised to be a patriotic, respectful person true to
our flag and to appreciate our freedoms and the men and woman who
fought/sacrificed for that freedom. My parents were true republicans and in
stilled in me to make my own decisions and think my own thoughts, and that was
not always what the schools taught. Although, I realized at an early age I was also
a republican and believed in the same core values and I am proud to say my
daughters also share the same values as Republicans.
Most of my adult life, I have been taking care of people. My most rewarding
career was taking care of seniors, including dementia and Alzheimer’s patients, in
home and in assisted living. I loved my job! I only decided to leave that field once
I peeked in pay and wanted to fulfill my dreams of owning a home and traveling.
I now work at Landmark Title as an escrow assistant to the most fantastic boss
and I genuinely enjoy my career.
I can absolutely say my mom (Nikki) is my best friend and it is great being on the
same board and working on the same Mt. Rose Republican Women fundraisers
and projects. I am so very blessed in life; I would not change a thing!

In 1975 I moved to California where I taught elementary music in the public schools and played English Horn/oboe in the Sacramento Symphony Orchestra and the Modesto Symphony Orchestra. I have always been registered as a republican and in Modesto, CA I served many years on the County Central Committee as both a member and an alternate. I also was a member for many years of the Modesto Federated Republican Women. In December of 2020 my husband, Jim and I moved to Reno, Nevada. We had to get away from California with its hostile business climate, its far left-wing politics and its confiscatory state income taxes. We like Reno and I look forward to helping the members of Mt. Rose Republican Women thrive as an organization.

She took a summer job at IBM that turned into a career of over thirty years. Dawn has experience in multiple components of the computer industry, with focus on custom software application development and delivery. Her specialty was turning around troubled projects. Dawn volunteers with SWE (Society of Women Engineers) and FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) to encourage young people to be leaders and innovators in science and technology. Dawn moved to Nevada in 2002 when she and her husband could no longer take the politics and high prices in California. They decided Reno was a much better environment to raise their son. Dawn got involved with MRRW to keep it that way and since it is such a wonderful group of people! Dawn enjoys living where the high desert meets the forest with many places go on hikes with her dog as well as bicycle rides.

While my husband Jack was finishing his PhD in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, I taught in the Ames School System. In 1971 Jack took an industry job with Tektronix in Beaverton, OR. We moved to Sparks in December of 2008, escaping from California. One of my pleasures is attending investment conferences and learning. I did some graphics work after the Macintosh computer came out in 1984. I had one of the first laser writers and freelanced for professional computer magazines doing schematics for articles. I also did promotional materials for conferences. I have followed national politics very closely for about 30 years, but I had never affiliated with a political party. In 2020, quite spontaneously and by chance, I found Mt. Rose Republican Women. It was love at first sight with the wonderful and welcoming people I met. It’s such a pleasure to spend time with people who share my values and have so many skills and talents. I really mean that. I have joined all the women’s groups, the men’s group, and the central committee. I was able to be a poll worker in the primary and plan to work in future elections. So, my life has become very full and enjoyable associating with Republicans. It is my pleasure to step into the role of Recording Secretary for MRRW.

Nikki’s was co-owner of a successful development & construction company, building and selling over 300 homes in CO & CA for 25 years. After the untimely passing of her husband, and horror of 9-11 she closed their construction business and became Assistant Mgr. of Tahoe Donners Architectural Standards, in Truckee and subsequently became Office Manager for Tahoe Mountain Real Estate, who were selling high-end properties such as Northstar Village and The Ritz Carlton. However, when Nikki assumed retirement age, she became a licensed real estate agent herself, in both CA & NV and discovered her true passion is helping people buy and sell real estate and especially in Reno and the surrounding areas. Married in 2007, to Ken Koeppe, who is a lovable and outspoken Republican who engaged her in all the Republican club activities and their events; she soon became involved and proud to be a Washoe County, Central Committee member. Nikki is a lifelong Republican, who has a perfect record of voting for Republicans, in every single election. When MRRW Founder, Sandy Masters asked Nikki to become President of the Mt Rose Republican Women, in 2020, she was reluctant because she was too busy, but Sandy had put together such an incredible group of talented and kind women… so Nikki could not say no, knowing she would have the backing to be successful with this team. Since becoming President some of the momentum has been lost due to the China Virus but our MRRW members have hung in there and supported our efforts every step of the way. Nikki is the grandmother of 3, and great grandmother of 6. Family is the most important thing in her life and she blessed to have two fantastic grown kids who support her in everything she does, so it is not surprising they are both MRRW members and Desiree is the 2nd VP. Nikki’s goal is to lead the club to better days ahead and make up for the time lost in 2020, with fun events that bring camaraderie and new members to help get Republican elected. She encourages members to become chairwomen because it is fun and rewarding.
