The Sandy Masters Youth Award 

The Youth Award was created to honor Sandy Masters, founder Reno Mt. Rose Republican Women’s Club (MRRW) serving the South Reno. Sandy Master, long-time known for her Republican leadership, she continues to support conservative and constitutional values for her community, state, and nation. Mother, grandmother, businesswoman, she believes youth will provide our hope for the future of “We the People.”

To recognize, encourage and honor youth who have made 

significant contributions in conservative and constitutional values to their community & state.

Increasing Nevada youth embracing conservative and constitutional values.

THE OBJECTIVE

To involve Mt. Rose Republican Women (MRRW) members and affiliate members in the opportunity to provide deserving youth recognition in their community or state.

The Sandy Masters Youth Award Nomination Information

GUIDELINES

(Nominations are accepted under the following guidelines

  • The award is for $2,000 and can be used for educational pursuits. Nominee will identify how the money award will be used in their written submission.  
  • Nomination form and written paper must be submitted before May 31 of each year and the award winner will be determined by the following June of that same year. The Mt. Rose Republican Women (MRRW Youth Award will be given out at a scheduled monthly MRRW meeting. Award recipient is expected to attend to receive the award and announce how the award will be used. A check will be issued at that time. (Generally, MRRW meetings are held the last Wednesday of each month).  
  • Individuals and organizations may submit letters of recommendation, accolades, and other supporting documents.
    • Supporting documents must include a cover letter with name, date, individual contact information, and organizational name if applicable. (Examples: Church, school, Republican club, Republican candidate, etc.)
  • Nominators must be MRRW members or affiliate members. Assistance may be provided to connect youth and MRRW member nominators upon request. 
  • Nominees must be 17 thru 24 years old.
  • A student nominee must have a current academic GPA of 3.0 or higher.
  • Students must currently reside in Northern Nevada.
  • Awards are determined by the MRRW Youth Award selection committee based on demonstrated award criteria.

AWARD CRITERIA

(Nominations are accepted under the following written paper and volunteer hours criteria)

  • Provide a grammatically correct written paper 1,500 to 2,500 words demonstrating conservative and constitutional values that may include: opinion, research, oral history, personal experience, academic study, American or Nevada history, etc.  
  • Nominee must serve a minimum of forty (40) documented hours of unpaid volunteer time related serving their Northern Nevada community. (Form available) Volunteer hours supporting conservative and constitutional values may receive extra consideration.  
    • Examples- political campaigns/organizing, voting integrity, presentations, constitutional history, appropriate topic research papers, military or veterans support, Republican club participation, law enforcement, etc. Nominations must provide a description of the volunteer service contribution and indicate how nominee’s volunteering is linked to their Northern Nevada community. Attach the Volunteer Documentation Hours form provided.
